Design: Thanos Chairis, Nikos Patsavos
Project: Residence
Type: Renovation
Location: Akadimia Platonos, Athens
Year: 2020

The study concerns the redesign of an apartment interior space on the 2nd floor of an existing building, in the area of Akadimia Platonos in Athens. The main goal is through small interventions in the interior layout, to upgrade both the functionally and the esthetics of the whole space. The apartment is being remodeled in order to create a modern living space that can be used at the same time as a workspace.

One of the customer’s requesters was the dining area to be used also as a work area. Thus, the design and location of the furniture in the space, are done in such a way, that both functions can be served.

Visual integration with the kitchen and the living room space is achieved with small changes to the walls of the kitchen area, while at the same time its functional autonomy is maintained. The interior design of the kitchen changes radically in order to accommodate modern needs and aesthetics.

The original floors are maintained in all areas, with the exception of the bathroom area, which is renewed in its entirety. Finally, all the fixed equipment (closets, bookshelves, etc.) is redesigned. New lighting fixtures and modern furniture complete the ergonomics and aesthetics of the spaces.
